Dear Adults, Allow us to change our minds......

Recently, I was asked a question while applying for a student leadership position at school.

"What do you want to be when you grow up?"

It seemed like a simple question, but it made me stop and think.

Most people probably don't think much about it. But I think it can make children feel as though the answer they give today is the answer they're expected to keep forever.

The truth is, it doesn't work that way.

The 30-Minute Timer

What has motherhood taught me the most? Unconditional love? Absolutely... although some days, terms and conditions seem to apply!

Sharing that last spoon of my favourite kheer with my daughter? Painful, but sure...  sometimes!

But perhaps the biggest lesson of all? Time management. Down to the very minute.

How? Well..... I owe it all to my daughter's sleep schedule when she was little —or rather, the complete lack of one!

"Happy?" ... "Yes, Dad"

Fifteen Years

July 2nd, 2011.

I left my parents and flew to the US to join my husband after a year and a half of long-distance relationship. Work, visas, travel, waiting… and finally, that moment of transition.

A fairly smooth journey. I landed on the 3rd.

I spoke to my mom and dad the next day. Dad spoke to me too.

“Happy?” he asked.

His usual, trademark question.

And I said, “Yes.”

Of course I was. I was finally with my husband.
